Our modern conservatory furniture is made using top quality durable materials. Our suppliers use a raw natural material called cane, one of the fastest growing tropical hardwoods. Cane has a fully flexible central core which means it can be handcrafted so each piece is unique to the owner.
Cane is a hard-wearing material that, when properly looked after, can last for many years. Not only is the cane frame sturdy but it is also lightweight, meaning that you can easily move your furniture around.
Both Cane Industries and Desser manufacture their cushions here in the UK. They’re finished to a high standard to provide a comfortable place to sit and relax throughout the day. Each supplier offers different types of fabrics for their ranges, they offer different levels of fabrics with varying prices. We always have our fabric books on display in our showrooms or alternatively, we can post fabric samples directly to your home address.
Care & Maintenance
We love cane conservatory furniture because it is durable and low maintenance. High quality cane furniture is non-porous, meaning that any dirt or grime won’t seep into your furniture frame. To clean your furniture all you need is a cloth or a soft brush - you can even use a vacuum cleaner on a low setting to remove dust.
Hot soapy water is a great way to remove any tough grime but you shouldn’t need to do that very often. We advise you to use as little water as possible when cleaning your cane furniture. Too much water can damage the frame, so always ring out your cloth.
Conservatories are great because they keep the heat in and their glass roofs and windows act as a sun trap. When your cushions are exposed to the sun the fabric will begin to fade over time. Make sure that you routinely flip your cushions to ensure that any fading is evenly spread across your cushion.
When it comes to cleaning your cushion covers it is paramount that you read the care instructions as they can differ across different suppliers and fabric levels. The majority of fabrics are dry clean only but if you're unsure just contact us.
Choosing Sustainable Materials
Rattan furniture is made from an eco-friendly material called cane it can also be called rattan or wicker. As previously mentioned cane is a tropical hardwood and it grows extremely quickly - the plant is ready to harvest in as little as two years and can fully renew itself in five years!
The cane plant is a creeper which means that it needs other plants to grow as it wraps itself around other plants and vegetation. Consequently, this encourages the preservation of the local environment and wildlife. On top of this cane farming also creates jobs for the local community and Desser works closely with their farmers to ensure they have fair working conditions and pay.
