Cane Industries are a family-owned and operated business who have been creating cane furniture for over 40 years. They pride themselves on their high standards and only use the best raw materials to create quality rattan conservatory furniture. Cane Industries are the only cane furniture manufacturer to be a member of the British Furniture Manufacturers. The BFM only invites those who create premium quality furniture and they have been representing British-made furniture for over 60 years! Desser has been creating top-quality furniture for over 100 years and is a fourth-generation family-run business. Their story began in WWI when Issac Desser was posted in Belgium and came into contact with Flemish craftsmen and the baskets they had created - from there Desser began. Desser had humble beginnings and was initially run from the front room of Isaac’s mother-in-law’s terraced house in Manchester. From here Desser developed from baskets to cane furniture - they’re one of Britain’s leading importers and distributors of cane furniture from the Far East. Cane rattan furniture is designed to last, the natural cane material is extremely strong and flexible. Conservatories are known for being sun traps, so cane furniture is your best choice. The cane will expand and contract as the temperature changes, this stops it from becoming brittle and snapping in winter. Rattan furniture is the perfect option for year-round use. Cane has a fully flexible core which makes it perfect for creating rattan furniture, it can easily be moulded and shaped into furniture. Cane is one of the fastest-growing tropical hardwoods - it can be grown and harvested in 2-3 years compared to other woods which could take 20-30 years! When it comes to cane conservatory furniture we have a range of fabrics for you to choose from. When choosing different fabrics it’s important to keep in mind that the price will change depending on what level your chosen fabric is. Both Cane Industries and Desser split their fabric into four different levels. Some fabrics may be priced higher than others and there are a few reasons for this. If the fabric you have chosen is patterned that requires more fabric to create and can cause an increase in price. Higher-grade fabrics tend to be thicker and can make your cushions feel firmer. Desser’s top-tier fabrics are known as AquaClean, this means that any spillage such as food, coffee or ink can easily be removed with just water and a cloth! Wicker conservatory furniture requires virtually no maintenance and is really easy to clean. To clean your frame just use a vacuum on a low setting or a dry soft brush. Moreover, to remove any tougher grime Desser advises you to fill up a bucket with hot soapy water and gently clean the frame using the bubbles, too much water can damage the cane. Using a toothbrush can help you clean the grooves and remove any dust. To maintain your cushions we advise that you routinely flip them to even out any fading that can happen with sun exposure. Alternatively, you can use blinds to protect your furniture from the sun. Most fabrics are dry clean only but it is important to always read the manufacturer's care instructions, if you’re unsure please contact us and we’ll advise you. Our conservatory furniture is made using a natural material called cane. Cane can grow up to 3cm per day which makes it a highly renewable raw natural material. Rattan is one of the most sustainable materials in the furniture industry. It wraps itself around other trees and vegetation in the rainforest which encourages the local community to protect the habitat. As it can grow amongst other crops and orchids, farmers work to preserve the rainforest as the cane acts as a companion crop. Desser source their cane from Indonesia and various communities are supported by this. Growing rattan has strong social significance in Indonesia, it provides the local community with a regular income. This industry is labour-intensive and it is extremely important to Desser that the workers have good working conditions and fair pay.Cane Furniture Brands
